Reapplying paragraph style globally

I have a very large manuscript with many paragraph styles and character styles. Quite a few paragraphs have for some reason lost some feature of the paragraph style (line spacing, character color or italic face), and when selected, now show as in the original style with a + sign following. I do not ...

Re: 3.0 Wish List

- select diferent parts of a text - docx and odt import / export - zotero and bibdesk support (or copy past from any reference manager in the the reference window and Mellel makes the job to scan the document?) - support for multiples bibliographies - language as a an attribute of character or para...

Re: 3.0 Wish List

Let me add just another one: a word processor that "was designed to allow you to create long and sophisticated documents" (a quote from the site) should absolutely have a split window function. I miss it each and every day. I second this wish. I've been waiting a long time for this featur...

Re: Mellel becoming sluggish and unresponsive

Thank you very much for this suggestion. I had already gone into preferences and turned off the Auto Save, since I had already figured out that was periodically rendering the program unresponsive. But I will also do what you suggest. Perhaps that will make periodic manual saving faster than before.

Re: Mellel becoming sluggish and unresponsive

Thanks, eduardus, for your most recent suggestion. I will keep that in mind. But the good news is that I have now heard from Eyal Redlers, after I sent him a copy of my large file. He admits that this is a serious problem, and I am sure that he will work on solving it for us all. In the meantime, he...

Re: Mellel becoming sluggish and unresponsive

I myself found the answer: There was a bug in Mellel (at least in Mellel 2.8.1) that produced this phenomenon, and it was corrected in 2.8.2, according to the release notes. I suppose this means that there is no hope for me, working with 2.7.2. Eduardus, I presume you never had this denial of access...

Re: Mellel becoming sluggish and unresponsive

A new problem has arisen while I was attempting to implement eduardus' promising suggested work-around: namely, copying the (formatted) text content of my Mellel 2.9.x file into an empty newly created Mellel 2.7.2 file. It seemed to work so long as I had the 2.7.2 file open. But after I closed it an...

Re: Mellel becoming sluggish and unresponsive

eduardus, I'll be glad to. But after receiving the initial polite response from Eyyal Redlers and an acknowledgement of receipt of my document, I've heard nothing further. So I'm going to investigate your work-around a little further. Of course, we all hope that a permanent solution will be found in...

Re: 3.0 Wish List

I have requested these for earlier versions. Here's hoping that eventually we will have them.

-Discontiguous selection (to eliminate repetitive identical deleting or reformatting of non-identical character strings)
-Split screen for editing/viewing in different parts of a long document

Re: Mellel becoming sluggish and unresponsive

Thank you, eduardus, for your reply. As I said in my post, I am not trying to knock Mellel, but the problem is making it impossible to use the program for writing this book. Although your solution to back-grade may be the only workable one at present, I would like to believe that the Redlers will re...

Mellel becoming sluggish and unresponsive

I am having a problem that I do not understand, and need help and advice. I have produced a Mellel document of 2.6 MB size with a large number of cross-references and two streams of notes. In the past month it has suddenly become very unresponsive. To be specific, the display cannot keep up with eve...

Go back button

My work involves intensive editing of long, book-length, technical documents with lots of cross-references and multiple note streams. I need to be able to go from one location to another, make a change and return to where I just was. If there is this capability in Mellel at present, would someone pl...

Re: 3.0 Wish List

I agree with those above who have requested language as a an attribute of character or paragraph styles. But I would also like to see "script" as an attribute that could be used for search and replace. In working on a long book-length document containing Hebrew or Greek, I sometimes forget...

Re: Mellel 3.0 wish list

Three years ago I requested a split screen feature to facilitate editing in two locations simultaneously in a book-length document. I still find that a necessary feature. I believe I have seen others on this forum agree. I also once requested an ability to hyperlink to information on the internet vi...

Re: Importing unicode from Accordance

I appreciate the sincere attempts of the two respondents to assist me and/or reassure me that all is well on the Mellel side of the import. But I suspect my description has not made sufficiently clear what the symptoms are. To be sure, at first I noticed that with certain styles (italics, bold itali...
