Re: Scrivener Export to Mellel
That's true. But it could perhaps impose a style on all footnotes, for example. Or find all text in Bold 14pt Times New Roman, and make Section Heading (Autotitle + corresponding Paragraph Style). I don't suppose anyone is going to go to much effort to style things in Scrivener, and then repeat the ...

Re: What's this space?
Fantastic. The nuisance was not so much what I showed in the screenshot, but that that space was reproduced in pdfs. I'm not sure why I didn't work that out for myself: perhaps the fact that I hadn't been using the commenting feature, so it didn't occur to me that the space for possible comments mig...

What's this space?
I am getting a strange space to the left of my "page" which is included in the pdfs that I generate as if it were an additional margin area. What does this mean, and how is it resolved? Thanks, Declan https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/23355575/Screen%20Shot%202014-10-28%20at%2015.14.35.p...

Re: Live Bib, chapters, and my Dissertation
I don't know if live bibliography is really of particular significance in this case. The thing is that you will write each chapter as a separate document, and before submitting it you will scan the document to get the bibliography. When, towards the end of your work, you will be working on the whole...

Re: Android reader app
I can well understand the desire to have an Android or IOS app to edit Mellel documents, but if it only a matter of reading them, what is wrong with printing them to pdf and reading them with whatever app you use for pdfs?

Re: Footnote Style Problems after RTF Import
I was also just explaining what happens for me. I'd say that some of the difference comes from the fact that you are working from docx, while I am working from Scrivener-produced rtf. Incidentally, I don't think that the things in the *dropdown* menu are styles. To apply styles to the footnotes or e...

Re: Footnote Style Problems after RTF Import
I have just tried out what Bulow suggested. I wrote a document in Scrivener with three sentences and three footnotes. I compiled it to RTF. I opened the RTF with Mellel. [The bar above the editor showed Par. Style + when the footnotes were selected.) I went to Insert>Edit Note attributes. At the top...

Re: Footnote Style Problems after RTF Import
You're quite right. This is a big problem, and I'm not sure that the developers have fully grasped the problem. They seem to imagine that every document begins and ends in Mellel. Here's one thread where the issue is discussed. http://forum.redlers.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2692&p=15530&hi...

Re: Scrivener Export to Mellel
Of course, if we really wanted to go for gold, we might suggest the option of imposing not just paragraph styles, but also Auto-titles. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to tell Mellel that everything in a certain font is a certain type of heading? If that were possible one could hop from Scrivener (or...

Re: Scrivener Export to Mellel
Yes, I think that's correct. Nothing very specific to Scrivener. But the Scrivener-Mellel workflow is probably widespread, since Scrivener is very good at planning longer manuscripts, and Mellel very good at taming them.

Re: Scrivener Export to Mellel
I think that one of the most significant issues is that there is no way for mellel to impose paragraph styles on similarly formatted texts. I have tried to describe this in the thread linked by another contributor. Let me try again: One would like to be able to import text which has certain characte...

I know that.
I also use Nisus, but somehow I feel safer entrusting a longer and more complex document to Mellel.
