Re: Wishlist for version 2.6

I suggest you answer by a post in this thread, entering the item numbers of the feature requests below in three catagories in the following way: 1. Most urgent: nrs. 7-9, 11, 16 2. Second choice: 1, 5, 6, 22 3. Third choice: 19, 21, 27, 30 And if the Redler code wizards could design Mellel to conti...

Re: no undo?

Can you name ANY major word processor made within the last ten years that has the same (glaring) shortcoming? Undo is one of those things that needs to "just work" in order for the end user to have faith in the program. I save every two seconds no matter what program I'm in, whenever. This is proba...

Re: Making a "live" TOC with cross refs

I am hoping for both improvements in 2.5.5. It seems logical that if the Redlers have code that does auto-updating links and code that produces links in pdf output, they will apply that to the table of contents feature fairly soon. For the same reason, I expect indexing is not far off. I agree - fr...

Re: Making a "live" TOC with cross refs

Reiner wrote:I think the live-updating toc could be a by-product of making a toc with links (like cross-refs) which are exportet as links to pdfs, too. And the latter one would be the crucial thing from my point of view.
The latter one would be very good indeed.

Re: Indentation question

No problem with Mellel. You just have to define such a paragraph style, and select that one in the autotitle edit pane of the title-level that precedes it. Upon applying your title-style and hitting enter, the paragraph style you want (the indented one) will be automatically selected for the paragra...

Re: Some newbie questions

But what I'd like to do is to change the auto-titles font, and you can' t do that in "edit title flows" window, that's what makes Mellel difficult to understand - in Word when you change the style, you have everything in one window - characters, spaces, alignment, etc. ` Well, you can. In the Edit ...

Re: Making a "live" TOC with cross refs

I'm sorry but I don't follow. Never ever do I make a TOC by hand in Mellel, neither in 2.5 nor before. Are you sure you use the "Insert > ToC" command (after using the appropriate autotitle setup for auto-titles) - and check the "include in TOC" for said autotitles? Agreed, once you made a TOC, and ...

Re: Crossreferences question

The suggestion by petrus to use auto-titles is the best option. You can then cross-refer to the autotitles (main level, e.g. [1], not [1a]) without problems. For the sublevels, you have to do it by hand, but in your crossreference you can include the sublevel (letter), or add it outside of the CR: "...

Re: Cross references question

Not an easy answer. The current official version of Mellel, tagged 2.2[7.2], does not have cross-references. The current beta (beta build 27, that is) of Mellel 2.5 which is at an advanced stage yet not publically available, is all about cross-references. Conclusion: if you need to buy it now for th...

Re: Can't figure out what is happening!!

Do you use the Envelope (Personale Envelope) template? It's not clear to me where all your info is currently located and how you got it there.

In general terms, though, you can adjust the spacing above your paragraph by editing the paragraph style (and check the "also at top of page/col").

Re: We don't need no stinking page numbers!!!!!!!!!

Janet: I have learned from you that Mellel will open an RTF file, which has shown to be OK in terms of checking files--although we!!!!!! (mr Mel & I) did find that the exported & re-opened in Mellel file showed the first line of text to be dropped down 3-4 lines. Haven't had time to investigate tha...

Re: mellel beta

Since the beta is no secret, can i ask about what else we can expect? Everyone and their dog knows xrefs are here, but is anything else coming? Although it seems relatively minor, I'm dying for quicklook support. It has easily become one of the most used features of the Mac OS for me, and to not ha...

Re: a few humble requests

Hello, I My second suggestion is that the "save" portion of the menu should not be available if no changes are made. I must admit that I save with obsessive-compulsive frequency, and I am very conscious of the changes that I have made. In most of the other pieces of software that I use, the "save" ...

Re: footer problem

Hi, I am sorry for a maybe long-answered question or for my own incompetence but I am unable to create a footer with page number (automatically for any page). Actually, I have just come from MS Word 2004 and apparently do need some time to habituate to Mellel. But I am in the midst of a book so I j...

Re: Spell checker

Hello, I moved from Tiger on iMac G5 to iMacIntel and Leopard, if this change anything. I am trying to spell check in English, Hebrew and French. In no one of these languages the spellers functions in Mellel. I remind that the speller works in Mail and in Text Edit. Is there exists a special versio...
