Re: Find all by formatting
Note that both Word (versions since 2008) and Nisus Writer Pro have an option to select all text with the same formatting as the current selection/text around the insertion point. This makes the job of imposing styles on imported text so much easier.

Re: A forlorn printing wish...
This would be great. It would also be nice to be able to see word count and other stats for a section in this way.

Re: Can Styles be transferred to MS Word?
No, they can't. Mellel doesn't export or import named styles in .doc or.rtf files.
The best workaround that I know for going from Mellel to Word is to use find and replace in Word to impose styles. Word can search on text or paragraph properties, and the process can be automated using macros.

Re: Fix equation alignment in Mellel
I thought I remembered this being fixed in a recent update, but I can't find it in the release notes: http://www.redlers.com/releasenotes.html
I would email the Redlers to check if I were in your position.

Re: Organising cross references
I agree too. Actually, I doubt that anyone who has used cross-references in Mellel would disagree. A flat list, in a small font which can't be changed, in a tiny box which can't be expanded. And if your autotitles don't have captions (e.g. I have a stream that I use to produce numbers for examples: ...

Then it is an oversight or a bug, depending on your point of view. Have you emailed the developers?

Re: Referring to images – URGENT (thesis deadline)
I'm glad it's working.
To be fair to you, what gets displayed in the right, preview pane, an din the cross-references dialogue box as a whole is often not very helpful. It's easy to miss the target you are looking for, I find.

Re: Referring to images – URGENT (thesis deadline)
Just to be sure: you have scrolled the 'Gliederungselemente' (i.e. Auto-title) list right up and right down as far as it will go, to check that the tag flow items aren't there somewhere?

Re: Referring to images – URGENT (thesis deadline)
I'm not sure how helpful this is, but I thought I should say that for me all auto title objects (tag flow and structural) show up as possible cross-reference targets, in a flat list. I wonder if you have done anything with just the tag flow objects that could be making them unseeable.

Re: wrong cross-references to chapter followed by bibliography
Would a section break before the bibliography work? (I don't know whether it would or not, but worth trying.)

Search – and replace – on paragraph styles would be really great to have.

Re: Insert chapter reference into citation?
No. I would just tick the box to exclude the brackets on the citation and put them around the citation and reference manually. The appearance will be what you are after, even though it will be made up of text+citation object+reference object+text.

Re: Live Bibliography Placement
The first scan will create a bibliography at the end of the document, but once you run the first scan, the bibliography won't move, even if you have put other material after it. So to answer your question: put a citation in your document, scan to create a bibliography, then start your appendices and...

You could use File>Replace Styles... to change them to a paragraph style that is very conspicuous.

You need to create and assign a non-ad hoc paragraph style, I think.
