Re: The state of the Mellel (a road map of sorts)

Excellent news, Ori! I made the switch to Mr. Mel in the middle of my dissertation and never looked back; the only real drawback was not being able to track changes and having to export files to be compatible with M$ W*ord.

Looking forward to the next version!

Re: Any updates coming up?

Surprising that you haven't had any answers! I would appreciate to have a "roadmap" too :). Mellel is really great for my use but for one missing feature (line numbering). It seems to me that the Redlers take the time to make big steps forward. However, sometimes, small steps are useful t...

Re: How to delete references in Bookends

I use both Columbia and UC libraries frequently for searches in the Humanities. In addition to abstracts, Columbia often provides chapter titles as well (though this appears to be related to publisher and date of publication).

Re: How to delete references in Bookends

I understand the frustration of learning a new application, especially one as sophisticated as Bookends. That said, I think that you're being grossly unfair to Jon, who is most supportive of Bookends users and explained things very clearly in the forum there. If you go to the following web page, you...

Re: Sente?

Folks: I looked at both BE & Sente back in 2005 while in the process of doing a doctoral degree track and Sente looked good in terms of the GUI, but I went with BookEnds and I continue to use it now . . . . The reason I'm posting this is to emphasize that Jon is very responsive to any issues th...

Re: Stability problems with Mellel 2.7.3

I suggest removing the Mellel program entirely from your computer (preferably using one of the application deleting shareware programs that finds and also deletes all the little extra files that are automatically placed in various spots in your System whenever you install a program. Sorry I can't help you out here. Maybe someone else can. But a better option is to post on the Bookends forum.

The update from within the program did not work for me (it created a damaged second version of Mellel in the app folder) but the version from the download section did.
Worked fine for me.

Re: Snow Leopard - not related to Style Sets or fonts

R. Patrick Cameron Thank you. I thought an upgrade would be the only avenue, but I wanted to keep as stripped-down a version as possible. It appears Mellel keeps adding bells and whistles which I do not need nor want. Joe Hall I'm not a programmer myself. But as a Mellel user of four years I can co...

These pagination requirements seem like unnecessary burdens aimed to haze graduate students one last time before filing. You have my sympathy.

Sorry I can't be of more assistance.

Re: Mellel 2.7 around the corner...

For me, it's a comments feature, which I've been told is in the offing. But I'm still very happy using Mellel for more personal writing projects and Pages to exchange documents with M$ Word users. Not sure if I'll ever upgrade Office again, especially if other applications are sufficiently compatibl...
