Have you checked the paragraph style that you apply to your footnotes? It should not "keep lines together" and things like that…

It looks like you have mutliple tabs set in your paragraph style. In addition to those at the very beginning of the line, there should only be one tab (a reverse tab), located at the outer page margin. I guess you will have to delete all those tabs in the middle.

I guess the only way to do this is to use the img tag (BBCode). To embed images using the img tag, you would need to upload them to some kind of webserver first, then you can link to the web address of the image…

Luckily, you don’t have to learn regular expressions to replace styles – there is an extra option for that! You can find it under File > Replace Styles…
