Re: Export to word .doc format does not handle in-line image

In Mellel, change the image to be not just in-line but also wrapped. I think it will then export ok. At least it did so for me just now, experimenting with some Mathtype equations. Alternatively, one can make adjustments in Word--selecitng the equation using Control and then using Wrap (nto a very i...

Re: Exports of Mellel 4.0 to Word. Solutions, Expensive and

Even with Mellel 3, after exporting to rtf or .doc, one can open in Word and save-as to .docx. Also, if one exports to pdf and converts to Word with Acrobat, the result is a .docx.

Re: Toward a Sneaky Way To Export Better to Word

Today I converted a 100 page complex Mellel document to Word .docx using export to pdf, open in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, and export to Word. The conversion is essentially perfect. The conversion —Handled front-matter pagination as intended (i, ii, iii,...), as in the Mellel manuscript but not as in the...

Perhaps for 4.1? Number of structural levels

Some authors have as many as four levels in main text and appendices. As I count, this would require 13 structural levels in Mellel auto-titles: 1 for unnumbered headings such as used for Summary, Preface, Acknowledgment, and Reference pages, and 4 each for Summary, main text, and appendix "parts" o...

Exports of Mellel 4.0 to Word. Solutions, Expensive and Not?

Mellel 4's indexing will add to the many nice features Mellel brings to the party. However, some of us have to export to Word. Thus, it's essential that that work well. Otherwise, indexing will be useful, as well as cross referencing, etc. There continue to be some pretty significant shortcomings in...

Drop Box

I am now able to access a document in iCloud Drive to edit on my iPad, but I have not been able to access a file in drop box. What am I doing wrong?

Value of Index Depends on Preserving Pagination

The planned Mellel 4.0 sound very good and I look forward to seeing the result. It's great to see these things happening. The Index will be especially nice. However, for those of us who must ultimately send the results to an editor, journal, or collaborator in pdf or Word, the index might or might n...

Re: Inserting a pdf document

Well, it's an awkward solution (inserting jpegs), but it is an option that I hadn't thought of that, assuming that the files would be larger than they are. I may end up using this method. Thanks.

Inserting a pdf document

I was unable to find prior discussion with search because my terms were too common. Anyway, is it possible to insert a pdf file at some point in a Mellel document? This is a file written in Power Point and then printed to pdf.

Thanks

Re: Toward a Sneaky Way To Export Better to Word

Emmanuel, although I had no trouble with a 100-page complex document, you may run into difficulties with your manuscript because it is so big. If so, I would think that you could convert chunks of the pdf one 100-page chunk at a time and then combine them in Word using Insert File. This is just spec...

Re: Toward a Sneaky Way To Export Better to Word

***Encouraging Follow-up Using a Different PDF to Word Converter*** I obtained close to 100% accuracy in translating a complex 100 page Mellel document with figures, tables, endnotes, footnotes, and cross references by (1) exporting to pdf and (2) using the free docs.zone [rather than Adobe Acrobat...

Toward a Sneaky Way To Export Better to Word

Although I sometimes am able to write in Mellel, it is necessary for me to go into Word to deal with others in my organization. That is problematic for reasons readers of the forum understand. However, I have come up with perhaps 80% of a better way. As background, if I export to RTF and then conver...

Re: Collaborating using rtf format plus Bookends

Robert, I am missing your point. To send someone a file to mark up in Word, I normally export to rtf. I then open in the Word application and save-as to Word, which reduces file size by a factor of perhaps 10. I then send that. Is there a step I could skip?

Re: Collaborating using rtf format plus Bookends

I can add a bit based on experience today. I sent a colleague my rtf export and he did a significant markup in Word. He was unable to send the result back to me, probably because the email system balked: the file was vey large and included many graphics. I had him save-as to Word and send that back....
