Re: Footnotes will be the end of me
If I'm not mistaken, this question resembles one that I put a while back. I would normally be working from a document compiled from Scrivener, and I found that it was a bit of a hassle doing what the previous poster suggested for each individual footnote. It would be nice to see a smoother solution ...

Re: How to impose character variations within autotitled text
Thanks for that. It set me on the right track. I hadn't thought of the possibility that I'd have to set the character variations for the character style I was using for titles. Obvious really, but it hadn't occurred to me. I mention this in case someone else is capable of failing to see the blinding...

How to impose character variations within autotitled text
Words in foreign languages are often italicized, and this should be so even in a title.
But I can't see how to impose a character variation in an autotitle. Is there some little trick I've missed?
Thanks,
Declan

Re: Selecting all footnotes (a variant)
Thanks again for help. I actually know about the edit footnote thing in the edit menu. Yes, it is a bit hard to find, but I've been using it for a while. The thing is that I'm working on a long document, and drafting each part in scrivener, and then pasting the exported rtf into Mellel, appending it...

Re: Selecting all footnotes (a variant)
Thanks. Yes, that would be helpful.
Except I don't think that Scrivener allows one to change the margins on the output footnotes.
One can change the font, but that won't show up in Mellel in the paragraph pane.
Perhaps we are getting closer to a solution, though.
Thanks again,
Declan

Re: Selecting all footnotes (a variant)
Well, that's just the problem. They would have unique formatting, but I can never decipher the way Mellel displays the character and paragraph formatting. It's true, all footnotes would be 10 pt Times New Roman, but that is found in the Character pane. If I then switch to the Paragraph pane, I find ...

Selecting all footnotes (a variant)
Suppose I import an RTF file with footnotes, and then want to change those footnotes to the footnote paragraph style I have set up. It appears that in that case I have to select the footnotes one by one and then specify the paragraph style on each occasion. Is this a good thing? [I called this post ...

Identifying Paragraph Styles
Apologies for the cryptic thread title, I couldn't think of a better one. I hope the text below explains what I have in mind. The issue is this: much of what I work on in Mellel comes as RTF from other pieces of software. In the example currently facing me, I have a pile of footnotes that I'd like t...

Moving Focus with Keyboard
Silly question, probably, but how do I move the focus to the outline in Mellel. Also, why is it not possible to assign keyboard shortcuts to autotitles: I can do it for paragraph styles and character styles.
Thanks,
Declan

Pity. One of the nice things about Nisus is the clickable links in the navigator (also easily produced in LaTeX). I wonder if it's a difficult thing to add?

Manipulating Bookmarks
Question: Scrivener outputs bookmarks for folders and documents to specified levels. These are understood to be bookmarks by Mellel, and show up in the "Outline" pane. If one of these bookmarks is selected in the Outline pane, the option is offered to "Change" and it offers a sel...

Re: The new Nisus Pro contains
Thanks for your kind offer. I already have a solution to my issue, which is to use Nisus for dealing with shorted texts output from Scrivener. As I said, if Mellel finds a way of making this easier, I will turn to it, but for the moment I have my solution. Note that I am not claiming that Nisus is s...

Re: The new Nisus Pro contains
Well, you see, autotitles in Mellel define their paragraph styles and those their character styles. So if I apply an autotitle to a piece of text, such as "Subheading 1" it will take on the styles associated with that autotitle. Now, suppose I output some RTF from Scrivener and the subtitl...
