double-click to select a word, then shift-click the MIDDLE portion of the next word
Just tried and works fine for me. Then with your next step, it selects up to the cursor position in the next word. Which is expected.

I have never used it, since it is Windows only, but Nota Bene looks like something to emulate for this kind of work.

Short term solution in Word 2004 might be to write VBA macros to achieve the changes, which could truly speed up the reformatting. Of course, with Office 2008, VBA is gone. Perhaps Applescript (with Word) might be an answer.

Re: Translating into a Standard Word Template for Final Publ

I've read a fair number of forum entries on related matters, but I'm still ho I had thought that some tricks might work, but if so I haven't found them. For example, perhaps Word's find and replace would find all titles that should be H1's in the Word template, as judged from font name and font siz...

I agree. I had used Papyrus for the layout of a book last year, and that was the one feature that worked exactly as I expected, and made my selection of Papyrus easy.

Just to reiterate, in case we are talking at cross-purposes: If you use character style variations , instead of character styles, for sub- and superscript, italics, bold etc., then you can use paragraph styles with associated character styles. Personally, I find that a better way of working. YMMV, ...

Given that the larger the number means "greater hyphenation limit", the opposite would mean that the lower number means "less hyphenation limit". Thus, to my way of reading, 0 indicates no hyphenation at all. If i want unlimited hyphenation, I would choose 100 or 500 or...
