What's happened to the separator lines?

Post by rwg »

After upgrading to 2.7, I've found that the separator lines between the main text and footnotes have disappeared in all my documents (or at least all the ones I have checked so far), and resetting the separator line does not bring it back. Has anyone else experienced this? And, more importantly, how can I get the separator lines back?

I guess you'd better check your note style (Edit Note attributes in the Insert > Note menu) - that's all there should be done, I guess. I don't have any issues with it.

We're not aware of any issue here, but you can fix this simply by checking the settings for the note style (as also mentioned above).
For example, if you're using the Note Style "Footnote" -- check to see that it has the separator set and save the changes to the style. All your note streams using this style will gain their separator back.

Thank you for the suggestions, but as I mentioned, resetting the separator lines doesn't bring them back. I tried setting a different kind of separator line with a different width, but still no separator line appears. I created a new document, and again no separator line. I downloaded and installed a fresh copy of 2.7, but the problem persists. Removing the Note Styles preferences (Application Support/Mellel) doesn't seem to help either. I'm sure there must be a simple solution, but it continues to elude me.

Just to make sure we're on the same page here: when you set this, for example:
Alignment: left
Weight: 1 pt
Width: 30%
Line: (regular)
Colour: Black
Space above: 14 points
Space below: 10 points

You do not see a line (when there are notes in the document)?

I knew there had to be a simple solution -- the space above and below the separator line was set at 0 points. Changing this brought the separator lines back. But why would this setting have been suddenly changed in all my documents? Anyway, all is well again. Thanks for your help.
