"Pooled object not found" ??

Post by drdan »

Hello all.

When opening old Mellel files in the newest version, I get the "replace as existing file" or "open as copy" window - but when I click on either button, I get the following error:
The document “XXXX” could not be opened. Pooled object not found
BTW, I can see the file via quick-look, but when clicking on the "Open with Mellel" button, one gets that error msg!

thanks
dma

This problem should go away with Mellel 3.1.3

I'm afraid that I am now on 3.2 and it has not gone away (or it has come back!)

It concerns some of my oldest mellel files.

Any solutions?

I have the same problem with opening old mellel files in 3.2.1. From those I've checked, the problem seems to be with any file last modified before April 2005. In my case, that's about 60 files that I now can't open. I understand that backwards compatibility can be a problem but... Is there going to be some fix for this that doesn't involve me sending out a cry for help whenever in the future I might want to access one or more of these files?

Hi Shelly,

Mellel should maintain backward compatibility. However, it is possible that some changes we make for a new version can break this compatibility. If that the case here then it would be very helpful if you could send us (directly - support at redlers.com) the said file so we could have a look and fix the issue in Mellel 3.2.2

I still see this problem with 3.2.2 and older files.
