In June 2013 I posted a query on the other forum regarding a problem with the character format of Auto-title references in footnotes. I couldn't get the cross references to match the smaller font size of my footnotes, and ended up having to manually change them all. I wonder whether my earlier problem is an instance of the one reported in this thread and, if so, whether in 3.3 auto-title references in footnotes will adapt to the character attributes of the footnotes.

Hi Shelly,

I missed your original post in June but I don't think this was not possible back then with 3.2.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding the problem but if I'm not, you should not have a problem, if you doing the following:
1. In the auto title setup, go to "ref format"
2. Check "Use a different format for Cross Reference
3. Select the whole format and apply "use surrounding" in character style

When you insert the reference, make sure the format uses "use surrounding" and then insert the "auto title-format"

Thanks for that Eyal. I've just tried it on a test file, and the cross-references in footnotes are coming out in the correct style.
