Bug: Mellel/Sente does not respect "do not enclose citation"
I noticed this bug a while ago, and it still seems to be present in Mellel 3.3b6 (and Sente 6.7..
I have selected "do not enclose this citation" in the citation edit dialog within Mellel, but the citation is nevertheless formatted as being enclosed (i.e. with brackets). This occurs whether or not I use the "live bibliography" option.
Can anyone else verify this, or suggest a solution?

Same for me. The citation option "Prevent enclosing a formatted citation" as described in the Mellel manual on page 322 does not work.
When I export my document from Mellel to Word the corresponding citations are exported as {Author 2001}. They should look like {*Author 2001} instead.
After changing it to {*Author 2001} in the exported doc and manually running it through Sente 6 (scan document) they are properly formatted - without enclosing characters.
Therefore I assume the bug is in the Mellel code, it is not a Sente error.
Any help from the Mellel Team would be appreciated! Thank you!
Kind regards
Philipp

Any comment on this from the Mellel developers would be welcome. The bug was reported more than 12 months ago.

Same here. Quite annoying, actually, because I need to sort that out manually now. And at the very end, because "scanning citations" is overriding the manual fix.
Really no help, Redlers?

More than two years now... Why even keep the option in the citation dialog, if it's basically non-functional?

Of course, you should have had a response from the developers by now, but I think it's wrong to conclude that the problem is caused by Mellel. This option works fine with Bookends. So I think you might be better off asking the Sente developers why they haven't fixed it.

They advertise compatibility with Sente, and nowhere do they point out that "don't enclose" doesn't work with Sente. I realise this is an interaction between two programs, but the developers could at least reply to say how they're addressing the bug...
Meanwhile, I have to manually search for double "))" and tweak my document by hand before exporting... and I have to re-do that every time I update the bibliography.

My point was just that the bug is probably at the Sente end of the interaction, so it's probably the Sente developers who can fix it.

Sente has a "do not enclose" option by prepending an asterisk, which works fine for manual scanning. How can you possibly know what the source of the bug is? I have also contacted the Sente developers; but whether the problem is at the Mellel or Sente end, the Mellel developers have some responsibility to be involved.

As it stands, none of the redlers have visited the forum since January as far as I can tell.
