Problem Exporting

Post by jthomashewitt »

I have a document with English, Greek, and Hebrew in it. I have exported this as "Word Format," and even though Word recognized the result as an RTF file, there was no problem working with the file in Word and then saving it. However, when I reopened the file, Word automatically "converted" it, and the Greek now shows up as a jumble of Cyrillic script (the Hebrew is fine). I have discovered that the way to avoid this problem is to export from Mellel, open in Word, and then save as a .docx file. The file then appears to be stable and undergoes no further conversion. However, I have a couple of large files that I worked on for a long time, and that work now seems to be lost because of this problem I've described. Does anyone know of a way to convert the Cyrillic back to Greek so that I can rescue the work I've done?

Try to take the RTF file and import it back into Mellel, if the import doesn't go well you can try and import it into Mellel while using the mac greek encoding (choose File->Import->RTF, click "Options" and then choose "Greek (Mac)" in the "Encoding" popup). Once the text is showing up in greek correctly you can re-export to RTF and go on.
If you're still unable to open the doucments as greek, contact our support, perhaps we'll be able to assist you
