Apple Color Emojis

Post by Shelly Harrison »

Just a small thing, but…

Is there some trick to displaying Apple Color Emojis in a Mellel 4 document?

The emojis are there because when I export a Mellel file with emojis as rtf and open it in TextEdit or Nisus, I can see them. But not in the original Mellel file or in the rtf file opened in Mellel.

Really interesting!

The colored flags are rendered with two letters, i.e. the US American flag is displayed as US, the English flag as GB, and so forth.
If I export the Mellel document as PDF, the flags are shown as two letters, and everything else is invisible.

Interesting
The Mellel guide discusses emojis stating that you can enter those with unicode numbers.
No mention is made on the lack of display.

I'm running version 4.2.9r1 with MACOS 10.15.4

Maybe it's a version/operating system issue

I did a test, inserted three different flags within a Mellel document. The flags didn't show up, only the letters. Then exported the file to an rtf file. Opened the file in Nisus Writer Pro and MS Word. In both applications the flags were visible. Opened up the rtf file in Melle, no flags visible.

MacBook Pro (late 2012), macOS 10.15.4 (Swedish version).

Tested with both with Melel 4.27 and 4.2.9.

Dit: Got the same bad result with the latest iPad version of Mellel. Only letters, no flags.
