epub heading flow, tag headings flow

Post by Amontillado »

I'm not sure what these options do in epub export. They are found in the "Spine, TOC & Notes" tab.

The heading flow and tag headings flow seem to be paragraph styles, not auto-flows, and no matter what I select the TOC looks the same.

This could be due to the software I'm using to view the ebook, too (Apple Books).

Just curious and wanting to learn a little. What does heading flow and tag headings flow do?

I think I figured this out, but it's a little down on my list of things to test.

The heading flow is the paragraph style to use for the auto-titles included in the epub's TOC.

The tag flow is the paragraph style to use for footnotes, endnotes, and other Mellel tag flows used in the epub's TOC.

A tag flow is an auto-title that you added. In the auto-title edit window, title flows (auto-titles) have a little bolt icon.

When you add an auto-title, that's a tag flow.

Am I close?
