New Forum platform

Post by Eyal Redler »

Hi All,

Along with our new site redesign and rearrangement we are also considering moving the forum to a different (hopefully better) forum platform.
We would be very happy to hear suggestion and recommendations from you, the form members, regarding this.

I don't know about what platform to use, but suggest some better organisation. The current division of "all things Mellel" and "Feature requests, and in-depth discussions of features and the way Mellel works" has obvious overlap and both are quite large. Sifting through the forum would be easier if the main headings were something like:

1. Questions and answers about how to use Mellel
2. Problems with Mellel not working properly
3. Feature requests

I agree with tika-tika on the forum subdivisions.

As far as the platform, is vBulletin, etc. worth the cost? I'm not sure.

One thing that would focus a lot of the posts on Mellel is some sort of feature request feature that users can vote on. It seems in the mutual interest of developers and users to know which features are of greatest interest and it would save repetition and trawling around the forum.
