Footnote spacing problem with Word import

This may be a Word issue. I imported or cut and paste a chapter from Word into Mellel, which is having problems splitting references anywhere to make for even spacing. Apart from re-entering the notes once again, might there be a work around for evening out text/footnote. As it is now, the chapter originally written in Word is the only one having this issue; whole pages are blank save for a footnote.

Formatting is correct now. I did close and reopen the file to no avail yesterday. But today when going through the chapter, things had evened out.
