Feature request: split view
Split view of a document would be very useful for academics. Only MS Word and now also NisusWriter 3 have this feature, and PDF Expert as far as PDF is concerned. Would be great if also the better word processor in the world, Mellel, could be added to this short list!

I'll add my voice to this. It would make editing long documents so much easier.

Oh yes please! Being able to have a window or part open on a different part of the same document to see exactly how you worded something elsewhere would be really helpful.

usually does not make anything.

Re: Feature request: split view
I’m working on a technical document right now and keep a second copy of my document open to refer to earlier sections as I resolve consistency issues. Multiple views into a document would be very helpful.

Re: Feature request: split view
Yes, I have long hoped for this feature. I have no idea whether it's a little or small ask.
I sometimes use a flawed workaround. Starting with File 3.20, I save-as to a new version File 3.20b. I edit that one, while having File 3.20 open so that I can have an approximate split-screen functionality. This works well for seeing two different parts of the manuscript at the same time (e.g., for checking consistency between material early and late in the document) and for certain kinds of editing, such as back-to-front (e.g., editing Conclusions to make it consistent with Summary or Introduction). It's easy enough to keep doing this, working successively with Files 3.20, 3.20b, 3.20c, etc. until you're done for the day and save the result as File 3.21.
