Keyboard text shortcuts in system preferences
I'm writing a book on the Gospel of Matthew, and I'm going to type "Gospel of Matthew" umpteen times. I had set up a thing in the OS's system preferences under keyboard where if I type /gom/ I should get Gospel of Matthew in the text. It works in Word and internet entry boxes from search engines to Twitter, but it's not working in Mellel. Ideas?

Re: Keyboard text shortcuts in system preferences
I made a test after I read the question, and I was surprised it didn't work. I use Typinator and before that, I used to use TextExpander, so I never really used the built-in version of macOS.

Yeah, not working for me. Tried various documents. Wondering if there's an override setting in Mellel or something.

Could be that Mellel doesn't use the built-in text engine provided by Apple?

It could be, but I'm just not enough of a techie to know...
Re: Keyboard text shortcuts in system preferences
I'm not much of a techie myself, but Mellel doesn't use Apple text services and hasn't had to work around its various longstanding bugs. I've had good luck myself using Typinator for this sort of thing.

Re: Keyboard text shortcuts in system preferences
I use Typinator myself and I can recommend it as well.
