I can't find the metheg or the maqqeph in the native mac Hebrew keyboard. I use SBL and EzraSR fonts. I must be missing something simple and basic, but I'd appreciate anyone who can help. It would also be nice to be able to type the "generic" accent (< over the accented syllable). --John

AFAIK there is no way to insert meteg using the Hebrew keyboard layout, you'll need to use the Character Viewer for that.
Regarding Maqaf you can insert it using option+shift+\ (forward slash)

Thank you. I can't believe I missed the maqqeph! That's where I used to find it and tried in vain yesterday; but alas, that's it. Sorry to have bothered you.

However, I still am unable to find metheg in the Keyboard Viewer (both Hebrew and Hebrew Qwerty keyboards). I've looked at every keystroke combination I can think of and don't see it on the Viewer.

As I wrote, I believe it is not there on the keyboard. You'll have to use the Character Viewer.
You can watch a guide on how to use the Character Viewer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4c5f_4XgPp8
